Heron update
One young heron has just left the nest for the first time today (10th may 2013) and we have another nest on camera with 5 eggs!
We have at least 5 nests occupied by breeding pairs and 5 young grey herons which should be stretching their wings and learning to fly very soon.

Donation from Wilkinsons starts Heron Festival

The Wilkinson store in Leighton Buzzard has donated 25 to the Greensand Trust through the Wilkinsons Helping Hands Fund. The donation will help the Greensand Trust purchase materials and equipment to support the Heron Festival.

The Heron Festival starts on the 23rd February and we hope to have volunteers helping us look after the telescope and talk to the public about the herons, as we did last year. There will also be a couple of talks on herons later during the festival (March June) further details will follow.

In order to maintain the heron cameras, telescope and binoculars and conserve the habitat for the herons to return to each year we need to raise funds. If you would like to make a donation this can be done via the visitor centre or donate online to the Greensand Trust fund stating that it is for the Heron Festival on the form.

Local businesses that may be interested in sponsoring the event (February May) can contact Alexe Rose for further details via email or call 01525 234260
