Garside Sands has worked with the Greensand Trust education team for the past 5 years helping us to introduce local school groups to the working of the processing plant at Munday’s Hill. This partnership enabled the Trust’s education team to illustrate the journey of sand from when it was deposited under the sea millions of years ago to the many uses it has today; the danger of working quarries and the opportunities presented through restoration.
The Greensand Trust also provides both guidance and practical assistance to Garside helping them to conserve some the habitats within the working pits and manage them for wildlife.
The Greensand Trust has also worked with Garside Sands to establish a permissive path connecting Heath & Reach with Sand House Nature Reserve to replace a footpath which has been cut by quarrying activity since the 1950s.
